Hexacon's Heavy-Duty Series of
Plug Tip Soldering Irons are the most rugged heavy-duty irons
available for industrial hand soldering applications. They are
specifically designed for continuous operation with fast heat
recovery. The element outer case is machined from a solid piece
of high strength, nickel plated alloy-steel and is practically
indestructible. It's unique hexagonal shape allows it to be held
in a vise or gripped with a wrench for maintenance without damaging
the case or heating element.
Unique to the Hexacon Heavy-Duty
Series Iron is the energy-absorbing nut, securing the tip with
its set screw, at the front of the iron,. This exclusive, purpose-designed,
part "cushions" the jolt when a hot iron is dropped
into its holder. Without the nut, all of the shock would impact
on the element, reducing its lifetime, especially at high operating
temperatures. As a result element life is extended significantly
in Hexacon Heavy-Duty Irons.
A heat interrupter/deflector
assembly is standard on all except the smallest iron in this
series. The assembly comprises three discs separated by spacing
rivets. The front disk is welded to the case stem and the back
disc is welded to the (separate) handle stem. Most of the space
between each disc is occupied by free air. This unique design
guarantees a cool, comfortable handle and permits the iron to
be ten percent shorter, making it a well-balanced tool with good
directionality.
Hexacon Heavy Duty Series Plug
Tip Irons are available in either the in-line style, "P"
Series or as the popular, hatchet style, "H" Series.
Hatchet irons, invented by Hexacon, reposition the center of
gravity closer to the hand producing less turning moment on the
wrist and shoulder.
Ergonomic studies have shown
that in-line irons require the use of the entire arm, whereas
with the hatchet-style, all of the work is done by the forearm
which effectively reduces operator fatigue.
Hexacon Heavy-Duty Series Plug
Tip Irons are supplied in wattages from 100 watts to 550 watts
with tip diameters from 3/8" to 1-1/8". These irons
are provided with long-life, Hexacon Xtradur Soldering Tips which
have been industry's tip of choice for high speed, continuous
duty soldering for many years. For intermittent soldering applications,
the optional premium grade, Hexacon Durotherm Tip is recommended.

correct Hexacon tip.
All Hexacon Heavy-Duty Series
Plug Tip Iron parts are easily replaceable and many of the individual
