Extra large tip surface provides maximum
coverage with smooth solder flow.
The thermal mass afforded by the oversize, chisel tip of a Hexacon
Screw Tip Iron assures a smooth flow of solder even when running
continuous seams in sheet metal. The thick wall hexagonal alloy
steel element case gives maximum protection to the heater. Case
flats allow the use of a wrench or vise for easy maintenance.
Smaller Screw Tip Irons are well-matched to light or medium-duty
tinware, cable harness and ground connection work. The larger
sizes suit hermetic sealing of transformers, metal caskets, radiators,
heavy motor armatures e.g.
Model 225 and above Hexacon Screw Tip Irons are efficient
heat sources for branding of wood, leather, plastic etc. Threaded
die blanks are available for custom engraving in various shapes
and sizes up to 16 square inches.
Unplated tips are supplied, as standard with each iron. These
tips may be filed if desired and provide excellent service for
occasional, intermittent use. However, for continuous, steady
production soldering, we recommend the specification of our iron-plated
Xtradur tips and no filing!
Hexacon Heavy-Duty Series Screw Tip Irons are built in a range
of wattages from 90 to 1000 watts, with tip diameters from 1/2"
to 1-3/4".
Both element and tip life can be extended on any steady output
iron by avoiding long periods of idling. A voltage controller
is useful for intermittent soldering applications to lower temperature
in periods of inactivity. |
